Kite duel · single player
Cross lines. Cut first.
Layangin is a kite duel played the way it is played on a field at dusk: you only win by wearing through the other line where the two cross. Wind, tension and timing decide it — not button mashing.

What is actually simulated
The wind does the work
The kite is not on rails. Every frame it is solved from the air moving over it.
Wind that changes with height
Wind is slower near the ground and picks up with altitude, following the standard power-law profile. Lose height and you lose lift — which is why altitude is worth fighting for.
Lift and drag from angle of attack
The sail is solved as a thin plate: lift peaks around 45° and collapses past it. Hold too steep an angle and the kite stalls and drops out of the sky.
A line that sags and snaps
Pay line out and the belly drops into a visible catenary; haul in and it goes straight. Load it past its breaking tension in a gust and it parts on its own.
Cutting by abrasion
Where the lines cross, damage depends on how fast they slide, how hard they press, and which line is tauter. The tighter line acts as the blade.
The rack
Eight airframes, not eight colours
Each kite is a different shape with different numbers behind it. A long-tailed janggan really is steadier and slower than a bare delta.

The ladder
Eight opponents, three of them bosses
Difficulty is in the hands, not the gear. A boss reacts in a fifth of a second and rarely wastes stamina; it does not get a stronger line than you can buy.

Between matches
Earn coins, then choose what to fix
Wins pay, losses still pay a little. Spend it on the thing that keeps beating you.
Buy new airframes
Each one changes how the kite flies, not just how it looks.
6
Upgrade what you have
Line strength, gelasan, reel speed, control and stamina all feed straight into the simulation.
14
Colours and trails
Eight colourways and six trail effects. These are cosmetic only — they never change how a kite flies.
Questions
Before you start
Is it free?
Yes, and there is nothing to buy. Coins are earned by playing and only exist inside the game.
Do I need an account?
No. Progress is saved in your own browser storage. There is no sign-up and no server holding your data.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a touch screen the arena shows an on-screen spool and yank button instead of keyboard controls.
Can I play against a friend?
Not yet. Only matches against the AI are available today. The simulation was built to be deterministic so online play can be added later, but it is not implemented.
Does it work offline?
Not currently. The page needs to load once from the network; there is no offline mode yet.
The wind is up
A duel takes about twenty seconds.
